With less than three weeks to go until we head to Antarctica, here is a look back at our dance performance on a chilly, bright day in December.
‘Making Waves’ was created and performed by Cambridge Contemporary Dance. The piece explores ideas about leadership and collaboration, taking inspiration from the themes of Homeward Bound and the imagery, physicality and sounds of Antarctica.
Thank you to Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner for meeting with us to learn more about Homeward Bound and support our leadership journey. We are proud to represent Cambridge residents as we head off to Antarctica in less than 90 days!
Today we had the honor of listening to Dr. Meredith Nash from the University of Tasmania and member of the inaugural voyage of Homeward Bound to Antarctica.
Her talk entitled, ‘What is it like to be a woman in STEMM? Gender bias, sexual harassment, and the myth of meritocracy’ taught us a lot of new perspectives on why women ‘drip’ through the leaky pipeline before reaching leadership positions.
Oh yes, and we shared a few laughs over dinner too!
Less than 4 months away from our trip to Antarctica and looking back on all the #HBcatchups we have had so far. So many inspiring women and many more still to meet!
What a great way to spend International Day of the Girl! Lovely to be back at Blackheath High School to launch my Homeward Bound Nature image competition and talk with Year 1s about polar exploration and how I am preparing for my upcoming Antarctica expedition. Loved all the questions and enthusiasm! Here’s to the next generation of women leaders and women in science.
Amazing evening speaking at the London Stock Exchange about ‘What Antarctica Can Teach Us About Gender Diversity and Climate Change’ Thank you University of Ottawa Alumni for the opportunity and Homeward Bound for the inspiration and confidence.
