Making Waves

With less than three weeks to go until we head to Antarctica, here is a look back at our dance performance on a chilly, bright day in December.

‘Making Waves’ was created and performed by Cambridge Contemporary Dance. The piece explores ideas about leadership and collaboration, taking inspiration from the themes of Homeward Bound and the imagery, physicality and sounds of Antarctica.

Meredith Nash in Cambridge

Today we had the honor of listening to Dr. Meredith Nash from the University of Tasmania and member of the inaugural voyage of Homeward Bound to Antarctica.

Her talk entitled, ‘What is it like to be a woman in STEMM? Gender bias, sexual harassment, and the myth of meritocracy’ taught us a lot of new perspectives on why women ‘drip’ through the leaky pipeline before reaching leadership positions.

Oh yes, and we shared a few laughs over dinner too!

Hannah Celebrating International Day of the Girl

What a great way to spend International Day of the Girl! Lovely to be back at Blackheath High School to launch my Homeward Bound Nature image competition and talk with Year 1s about polar exploration and how I am preparing for my upcoming Antarctica expedition. Loved all the questions and enthusiasm! Here’s to the next generation of  women leaders and women in science.E06572F2-7C69-44C8-999C-9B9E5560E51E
